Spicy Pear Crumble Recipe

A spicy yet delightful pear dessert

A spicy and aromatic dessert.


8 pears
70g barown sugar
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 pinch of nutmeg

For the pastry:
110g melted butter
225g flour
3 egg yolks
90g brown sugar
1 pinch of salt

Recipe Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180C.

Make the pastry.
Place the sugar, salt and nutmeg into a bowl and mix them together. Melt the butter in a small saucepan and pour this into the mixture. Mix all the ingredients together with your fingers to make the consistency of breadcrumbs and shape it into a ball. Place it in the refrigerator and let it set for 1 hour.

Prepare the filling:
Peel and dice the pears and place them in an ovenproof dish. Sprinkle the sugar, ginger and cinnamon on top of the pears and stir it all together well.

Crumble the pastry over the pears and spices and cover the dish. Place in the oven and bake for 40 minutes.

Serve while still warm with ice cream.
