Pear Chutney with Mustard Recipe

A great pear chutney with any roasted meal dishes
Yield:     Preparation Time: 15 minutes    Cooking Time: 12 hours
An ideal accompaniment to any roast meat dishes.

Ingredients

6 large pears; peeled, quartered and cored
1 large onion, minced
100g brown sugar
180ml white wine vinegar
60g coarse-grain mustard
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ teaspoon ground cloves
½ tablespoon ground allspice

Recipe Instructions

Make the chutney.
Place all the ingredients into a bowl and stir together well. Cover the bowl and let the ingredients marinate overnight at room temperature.

Cook the chutney.
Transfer the mixture into a non-aluminum saucepan and bring it to the boil. Reduce the heat and allow the mixture to simmer uncovered for 1.5 – 2 hours until the mixture thickens.

To finish.
Transfer the chutney to jars with tight fitting lids and allow it to cool. Can refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.
