2 x 415g cans pear halves in juice
25g cocoa powder
125g caster sugar
125g plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
150g soft butter, plus extra for greasing
Preheat oven to 200C.
Prepare the pears.
Drain the pears and place them at the base of a greased ovenproof dish.
Make the batter.
Add all the remaining ingredients together in a food processor and blend until you have a batter that is soft and spreadable.
Pour the batter over the pears and bake for 30 minutes in the oven. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 – 10 minutes. Once cooled cut it into roughly 9 slabs. Serve the slabs with the chocolate sauce.
